Davis (CA) Church to Host Community Festival in May
DAVIS, CA (March 1, 2004) - University Covenant Church celebrated completion
of a new church building on Feb. 22 with plans to welcome the community
to view the $6 million facility during a community festival in May.
Greg Yee, Pacific Southwest Conference director of Leadership and
Congregational Development, was in attendance along with 1,149 members
and friends of the congregation. During the service, founding members
ceremoniously carried into the sanctuary a cross, Bible, font, communion
cup and plate, handing them over to individuals representing the next
generation.
A transition team of 50 people under the direction of Larry Lagerstrom
had been readying the church for the move during the previous month. The
facility includes a multipurpose room and office space. Phase two will
include a sanctuary. The church averages 700 in weekly worship attendance.
