Three North Park Athletes Named All-Conference
CHICAGO, IL (March 9, 2004) - Three North Park University (NPU) players have
been named to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW)
All-Conference teams in women's and men's basketball for the 2003-04
season.
Megan Slattery, a 6-foot sophomore center from Wilmette, Illinois, made
the first team in women's basketball after averaging 13 points and seven
rebounds per game. She earned second team All-CCIW honors as a freshman.
For the conference season, Slattery was fourth in field goal percentage
(.514) and offensive rebounds per game (3.0), eighth in points per game
(11.9) and 10th in rebounds per game (6.9).
Tiffany Campbell, a sophomore guard from Westminster, Colorado, earned
third team All-CCIW honors after averaging 12 points per game for the
15-11 Vikings. The first-year North Park player was second in the
conference in 3-point baskets (42) and 3-point percentage (.393), fourth
in free throw percentage (.811) and fifth in points per game (13.3).
Senior forward Javier Sanchez capped his four-year career at North Park
by making the All-CCIW third team and earning Most Valuable Player
honors for the Vikings men's squad. The Chicago native scored in double
figures 16 times in 25 games and averaged 11.4 points per game and five
rebounds per contest as North Park finished 8-17.
The 6-foot-2 forward was 11th in rebounding in the conference with a 5.2
per game average and was 14th in field goal percentage (.475) while
averaging 11.6 points per game. For his career, Sanchez scored 658
points, grabbed 270 rebounds, had 130 assists and totaled 54 steals over
95 games.
