Pastor-Mentor Needed in Alaska
KALSKAG, AK (March 12, 2004) - Is there a retired Covenant pastor looking for
an adventure this spring?
Then Evangelical Covenant Church of Alaska (ECCAK) regional director
Rodney Sawyer has the perfect scenario for you. Sawyer is always looking
for a few good pastors, but right now he would love to find a short-term
mentor.
Sawyer is seeking someone to travel to Alaska as a pastoral mentor for a
minister who recently finished studies at Homer Bible School. He will
welcome someone for any length of time - a few weeks to a year if they
can arrange it. "He needs someone to come alongside him to teach him
about church life," Sawyer says. "He is a sharp young man and I want to
invest in both he and his wife, who grew up in Kalskag. They have a very
interesting story of how God called them to serve there."
The Kalskag congregation can offer housing for a mentor, although Sawyer
said that the person called would need some sort of income to sustain
them. However, he added, the locale is in the heart of moose country
with salmon and northern pike ripe for the picking and natural beauty
that one won't find in most parts.
For more information, call Sawyer at the ECCAK office in Eagle River,
907-694-6348 or email him at iditarodney@gci.net. The region's web site
is www.home.gci.net/~eccak.
