Copies of Carlson DVD Preview Available
CHICAGO, IL (April 30, 2004) - Copies of a DVD feature preview on the life of
Covenant martyr Dr. Paul Carlson are available from the president's
office of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
Carlson served as a Covenant medical missionary in Congo where he was
killed by Congolese rebels in November 1964 during a time of civil
unrest in that country. A 45-minute documentary on his life will be
unveiled during the June Annual Meeting in Minneapolis. The feature
preview DVD offers glimpses of the content that is to come in the full
feature presentation.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Carlson's death. However, the
June celebration will offer a broader focus on a renewed call to
personal discipleship, challenging Christians to follow Christ in
obedient and, at times, sacrificial living. Other Covenant martyrs,
including three missionaries killed in China in 1948, also will be
remembered.
The feature preview DVD includes four segments:
- A feature preview with Dr. Timothy Johnson of ABC News (8:40 minutes)
- A special message from ECC President Glenn R. Palmberg (6:42 minutes)
- The graveside message (Congo, November 2003) by President Palmberg
(5:14 minutes)
- Abbreviated feature preview (2:07 minutes)
Most Covenant pastors received copies of the DVD preview during the 2004
Midwinter Pastors Conference in Chicago. However, churches or
individuals desiring additional free copies should call Joey Ekberg,
assistant to the president, at 773-907-3301 or email her at
joey.ekberg@covchurch.org. Copies will be available while supplies last.
