AAMA September Retreat in Colorado SpringsCOLORADO SPRINGS, CO (May 11, 2004) - Room reservations are now being accepted for the annual African American Ministers Association (AAMA) Retreat September 22-25 at the Sheraton Hotel in Colorado Springs, overlooking the Cheyenne Mountains and Pikes Peak. The hotel is located at 2866 South Circle Drive, Colorado Springs, CO, 80906. The hotel may be contacted by telephone at 719-576-5900. Those reserving rooms should reference AAMA to receive a special rate of $79/night. "This Sheraton recently spent $7 million on renovations," notes pastor Promise Lee, speaking on behalf of the AAMA Retreat Committee. "To get the best rooms overlooking the beautiful mountains, you need to register right now," he advises. An AAMA Executive Board meeting from 3-6 p.m. begins the activities on Wednesday, September 22, followed by a reception from 7-9 p.m. at the hotel that includes orientation for first-time participants. A breakfast meeting from 7-9 a.m. begins Thursday's activities, with tours of area attractions available from 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. A time of sharing is planned during the 7 p.m. dinner "a time for becoming more acquainted and sharing what God is doing in each of our lives or ministries," Lee says. Friday morning is unstructured time with Rev. A.R. Bernard Sr., pastor of New York Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn New York, speaking at the Friday luncheon. He also will preach during the 6 p.m. evening service. The read more about his ministry, see Rev. A.R. Bernard Saturday has been kept open to allow some of the pastors to travel to the Denver area in preparation for Sunday speaking engagements others can return to their homes. Lee suggests those speaking in the Denver area may prefer to arrange flight schedules at the Denver airport instead of Colorado Springs. The hotel provides a shuttle to the Colorado Springs airport and other vans will be made available for tours or to pick up and deliver people to and from the Denver airport. "This will be a retreat you don't want to miss," Lee emphasizes. "Our goal is to provide an opportunity to get off the merry-go-round of day-to-day ministry and allow you to bask in an environment of rest, relaxation and fun. We look forward to this time of refreshing. A retreat is worthless if it does not prepare one to advance." Copyright © 2008 The Evangelical Covenant Church. |
