Covenant Harbor Announces Summer Worship Series
LAKE GENEVA, WI (June 10, 2004) - North Park Theological Seminary (NPTS) Prof.
Klyne Snodgrass and Evangelical Covenant Church evangelists Lon Allison
and Judy Howard Peterson are among the guest preachers as Covenant
Harbor Bible Camp (CHBC) presents its "Many the Gifts: A Summer Sampler
of Worship" series beginning this Sunday
Covenant Harbor's summer worship series has become a staple for the camp
and an opportunity to showcase its facilities, allowing Covenanters to
worship in a different environment with notable speakers during the
summer months. The series runs through August 8, said CHBC chaplain
Karen Hinz. Sunday's 10:30 a.m. service features pastor Hollis Kim of
Parkwood Community Church in Lombard, Illinois, as guest preacher with
special music being provided by Glenn Kaiser of Jesus People USA
Covenant Church in Chicago.
Snodgrass, a noted Covenant speaker and longtime New Testament seminary
professor, will preach at the July 11 worship service. Allison of
Deerbrook Covenant Church in Palatine, Illinois, is a recognized speaker
throughout the world, also known for his leadership of the Billy Graham
Center in Wheaton, Illinois. He preaches on July 18. Howard Peterson, a
Covenant pastor known for her Walk Across America experience, will bring
the morning message on July 25.
Sunday summer worship services at Covenant Harbor are held in a large
white tent located on the far end of the camp's front lawn. Following
worship, people are invited to use the facilities for picnics or to
purchase lunch on the grounds. They also are welcome to swim and enjoy
the fellowship of others during afternoon hours. Guests must leave by
4:30 p.m., however, when Covenant Harbor's weekly youth camps are
scheduled to begin.
Beginning June 20, the summer schedule of guest preachers and musicians
include:
- June 20: Preacher, David Sutton, associate pastor, Oakdale Covenant
Church, Chicago; music provided by CHBC summer staff
- June 27: Preacher, Herb Freedholm, Central Conference
superintendent; music provided by Kurt Barker of Anchor Covenant Church
in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin
- July 4: Preacher, Karen Hinz; music provided by Kelly Ballard with
The Renewal Project of Walnut Creek, California
- July 11: Preacher, Klyne Snodgrass; music provided by Reggie Coates,
worship leader of Heartfelt Music Ministry
- July 18: Preacher, Lon Allison; music provided by the worship team
at Faith Covenant Church in Wheaton
- July 25: Preacher, Judy Howard Peterson; music provided by Charlotte
Mesimore of Edgebrook Covenant Church in Chicago
- August 1: Preacher, Lawrence Pointer, director of the New Jerusalem
Teen Center; music provided by Teens of Praises
- August 8: Preacher, Ryan Eikenbary-Barber, pastor of Anchor Covenant
Church in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; music provided by Kurt Barker
