Memorial Service Saturday for Karisa Johnson
GUNMA-KEN, JAPAN (August 4, 2004) - A memorial service will be conducted
Saturday in Gunma-ken for eight-year-old Karisa Johnson, daughter of
Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) missionaries Tim and Andrea Johnson,
who died Tuesday en route to a hospital from complications caused by a
viral infection.
Karisa was born March 18, 1996, and came to be a part of the Johnson
family just a few days after her birth. In addition to her parents, she
is survived by Samuel, Allegra and Sky. A traditional wake will be
observed on Friday evening. World Mission Executive Minister Curt
Peterson and Asia Coordinator David Husby will represent the ECC at the
services.
"Please be in prayer for Tim, Andrea, Sammy, Allegra and Sky as they
deal with this tragic loss," said Byron Amundsen, coordinator of
missionary services. "Pray for their Japanese coworkers and our mission
family in Japan as they stand by the Johnson family during this time of
grief."
Cards may be sent to the family at the following address: Revs. Timothy
G. and Andrea Johnson, 1142-8 Sanno-cho, #201, Isesaki-shi, Gunma-ken,
372-0831, JAPAN. Email messages may be directed to the Johnsons through
the Department of World Mission at world.mission@covchurch.org.
