Covenant Pastor and Chaplain Headed for Iraq
DULUTH, MN (August 24, 2004) - Covenant pastor Mike Gillett will be deployed
to Iraq on active duty after being called up called up earlier this month.
Gillett, pastor at Salem Covenant Church in Duluth for the past two
years, reported for active duty on August 16, as part of an 18-month
assignment. He said that he would do most of his preparatory work at
Fort Hood, Texas. He has been in the U.S. Army Reserves and Army Guard
for 16 years.
This fall, Gillett expects to be serving at Camp Victory in Baghdad,
Iraq, in support of the 42nd Infantry Division.
Gillett asks for prayer that God would give him the wisdom to minister
properly to a group of people that have been fatigued by the war. He
believes that he can provide hope to soldiers through counseling,
leading chapel services, and giving practical helps. More information
about Gillett will be available in the coming months on www.covchurch.org.
