Wisconsin Church Celebrates New Building Addition
ELLSWORTH, WI (August 25, 2004) - Zion Covenant Church held an open house and
dessert on Sunday afternoon as part of a celebration for a new 6,000
square foot addition onto its existing facility.
Pastor David Eaton said that the event included about 250 people from
the community and surrounding area. Elder Langager, a former pastor, and
his wife, Nettie, attended Sunday's festivities as did Margaret
Nordstrom, whose late husband, Paul Sundberg, was a former pastor at the
church. A number of former members from out of town also attended.
Don Fensterman, who heads the Covenant's Churches Planting Churches
initiative, gave a greeting during the afternoon ceremonies. He assisted
Zion Covenant during the building campaign "Step of Faith Campaign." The
effort had raised a substantial amount of money towards the $800,000
needed to complete the project. The congregation has paid 60 percent of
the bill thus far.
The new addition has been at least partially in use since January. It
includes a multipurpose activity center, bathrooms, office space and
remodeled education space, Eaton added.
Zion Covenant Church averages 125 in worship attendance in a town of
3,000 in western Wisconsin. It is part of the Lake Pepin District of the
Northwest Conference and is one of two Covenant congregations in Ellsworth.
