Covenant Village: 'Count Your Blessings'
PLANTATION, FL (September 7, 2004) - "I just finished a set of rounds on the
campus," writes campus administrator Judith Johnson from Covenant
Village of Florida. "The theme clearly is 'Count Your Blessings'."
"Covenant Village is truly blessed with a wonderful group of residents
and staff," she continues in an emailed update. "They all weathered the
storms with great skill and humor. One residential building held a
pajama party on Saturday night. The Care Center and Palm Villa residents
are also super - full of smiles and energy this morning. They are just
tired of the shutters keeping out the sun. Several staff and families
stayed on campus until the hurricane warning was lifted on Sunday. Some
of our families are still without water and/or power at their homes.
"We also were blessed with God's protective hand - clearly an answer to
the many prayers. We sustained no damage to the building structures.
With the rain on Sunday, we did get some flooding but not as bad as
might have been. There is a lot of debris all over the city - we lost
some tree branches and a few trees. So today will be one of cleanup. We
are at full electrical power - we had flickers of power loss in the
residential and healthcare buildings and lost power for several hours in
the Village Center, but all is back to normal this morning.
We still have the shutters in place in the healthcare building as we are
trying to determine the risk from Ivan - projected to come our way by
Saturday. Thanks for all your concerns, prayers and contacts. Truly we
are grateful to the Lord for His care and protection."
