Chicago Area Youth Conference Set for October 9
SOUTH HOLLAND, IL (September 24, 2004) - A new Evangelical Covenant Church
plant - New Beginning Covenant Fellowship - will hold its first annual
youth conference entitled "Light the Fire" October 9 at Seton Academy,
located in a suburban area south of Chicago.
High school students from 14 to 18 years of age may attend two of three
workshops being offered during the free event, which runs from 3 to 8:30
p.m. Workshops include:
- Saved, Single and Satisfied
- The Power of Prayer
- Sex, Music and Videotape: Entertainment's Impact on the Christian World
A leadership workshop will also be offered that is specifically designed
for students and adult youth leaders. Conference speakers include
parishioner Cheryl Wooten, John Jones representing Christian Life Center
in Tinley Park, Aerica Parson of True Temple of the
Apostolic Faith Church in Chicago, and Rev. Willie Comer, youth pastor
at Salem Baptist Church in Chicago. The concluding worship service will
feature keynote speaker Elder Don Clark from the Apostolic of God Church
in Chicago.
The "Light The Fire" youth conference is being sponsored by NB New
Beginning Covenant's Teen Outreach Center, Purpose By Design, which
offers outreach and community service project opportunities, college
prep classes, mentoring programs, worship services and bible classes.
Registrations are being accepted through October 1. Seton Academy is
located at 16100 Seton Road in South Holland. Youth who are interested
in registering for the conference should call Denise Balfour, Purpose By
