CBC-Ecuador Dedicates New Campus
LA MERCED, ECUADOR (November 15, 2004) - A total of 225 were on hand to
dedicate the new campus of Covenant Bible College-Ecuador after work was
completed to ready the site for classes.
The dedication ceremony took place in the recently completed auditorium,
according to Neil Josephson, president of CBC International. It was part
of renovation and construction on CBC-Ecuador's eight acres of campus,
which used to be owned by renowned Ecuadorian painter Gonzalo Endara Crow.
"We are thrilled to be at this point in the life and mission of
CBC-Ecuador", said Josephson. "With the participation of so many, we now
have an enlarged and improved campus and a permanent home. We are so
thankful to God and to everyone who helped bring this to pass."
Josephson specifically cited the partnership with the Department of
World Mission of the Evangelical Covenant Church, the financing provided
by National Covenant Properties and the financial and prayer support of
hundreds of individuals as essential to the planting and growth of
CBC-Ecuador. He also reported that to date more than 300 individuals
representing numerous Covenant Church service teams have volunteered in
campus retrofit and construction projects, coordinated by Covenant Short
Term missionaries Herb and Elaine Clauson.
"We also would not be here, dedicating this campus, without the
invaluable work of
Robin Impey, who relocated from Breton, Alberta, to oversee the campus
redevelopment project over two years ago," Josephson added. In
recognition of that fact, CBC-Ecuador
Executive Director Bob Auger announced at the dedication service that
the new dorm has been named "Impey Hall" to honor the contributions of
Robin and Brenda Impey and their family.
Including this year's class, CBC-Ecuador has discipled more than 300
students - 217 in the English-speaking program and about 100 in the
summer Spanish-speaking program.
The latter program is part of a joint ministry with CIPE, the
association of Latino Covenant Churches. Covenant Bible College also
operates campuses in
Strathmore, Alberta, and Windsor, Colorado.
