Applicants Sought for World Mission Assistant


CHICAGO, IL (March 28, 2005) - Applications are being accepted for a full-time position as a World Mission assistant working in the areas of Short-term Missionaries, Project Missionaries and Covenant Mission Connection (STM/PM/CMC).

The position, scheduled to begin May 2, reports to the STM/PM/CMC manager and provides administrative support to these programs.

The successful candidate will have a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university (preferred), two to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This individual also should demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and other database software, Internet and e-mail systems and various office equipment. The ability to multi-task and pay a high degree of attention to detail also is required.

Responsibilities include promoting and supporting the programs and CMC, correspondence, maintaining records, assisting with application procedures, screening initial inquiries, requesting references and utilizing other screening tools, assisting with logistics for orientation, re-entry programs and the world mission worship service during the Covenant Annual Meeting. This position also helps update and maintain training materials and a policy manual, answers all inquiries regarding CMC, creates and directs production of two Catalyst publications each year, and other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills and the ability to handle a variety of tasks and responsibilities in a professional and prompt manner. The position demands accuracy, the ability to show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. The individual must have the ability to work with limited direction, take initiative, have the ability to plan and carry out responsibilities with limited supervision, and the capability to organize personal work schedules and duties in order to complete responsibilities. Good judgment is necessary. The individual must be courteous and relate well to internal and external constituencies. The person must be tactful, possess highly developed communication skills in English (written and verbal), and be able to communicate effectively with staff and others with whom this position has contact.
