Memorial Service April 9 for Alfred H. Johnson
LITTLETON, CO (March 29, 2005) - A memorial service for Alfred H. Johnson
will be conducted at 3 p.m. April 9 at Centennial Covenant Church in
Littleton. Dave Noreen will officiate. Johnson, 79, died March 10 and
was buried in California.
Johnson at one time served as director of educational planning and
special services in the former Department of Christian Education (now
Department of Christian Formation). He also was the director of
Christian education for the Pacific Southwest Conference of the
Evangelical Covenant Church.
He served as pastor at St. John's Covenant Church in Portland, Oregon;
Wiley Covenant Church in Yakima, Washington; Dearborn Covenant Church
in Dearborn, Michigan; Berkeley Covenant Church in Berkeley,
California; Hope Center Covenant Church in Pleasant Hill, California;
and Crown Valley Covenant Church, Laguna Niguel, California.
Johnson received a Bachelor in Theology degree from Central Bible
College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech and political science
from Seattle Pacific University. He graduated from North Park
Theological Seminary in 1953 and was ordained in 1957. He is survived
by four children. His wife, Lorraine, preceded him in death.
Memorial donations will be used to establish a scholarship fund in
Johnson's honor. Donations may be directed to the North Park
College/Alfred Johnson Memorial Fund in care of Stephen Johnson, 213
