Covenanters Receive Habitat for Humanity House
LINDSBORG, KS (April 25, 2005) - A family attending the Evangelical Covenant
Church has been selected to be the recipient of a Habitat for Humanity
house.
Justin and Rachelle Grimmett, and their son, Ethan, participated in the
groundbreaking ceremony earlier this month. Covenant pastors Jeff Waugh,
Steve Johnson and Darrell Cooper led the participants in the ground
breaking service which included Scripture, prayer and a responsive litany.
"Our family appreciates all the support from the community and from our
church," Rachelle Grimmett said. "We're excited about having more room
for our family and about owning a house that we can care for and make
into a home."
Local Habitat board president Bill Parker said, "Today we're following
what Christ taught us to do by helping our neighbors who are in need."
The Grimmetts lead a senior-high Sunday school class for eleventh and
twelfth graders as well as helping in other areas of youth ministry.
Rachelle is the coordinator of the children's church.
The selection process for the Habitat for Humanity house includes a
written application. The applications are reviewed according to need and
the choices are then narrowed to three families. The families are
interviewed by the selection board, which currently includes one pastor
and two lay people, and then chooses the recipient family.
