Two Staff Changes in Communications
CHICAGO, IL (June 17, 2005) - Two staff changes have been announced by the
Department of Communication of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
Assuming the position as Internet Services manager is Heidi Griepp, a
member of the Communications team for the past six years. She replaces
Joel Pearson, who moved to Orange, Massachusetts where his wife, Adria,
accepted a call as pastor of Mission Covenant Church.
Griepp previously served as a designer in the Covenant Design Center.
She completed studies at Covenant Bible College-Canada in 1992 and
received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Youth Ministry and Communication
Studies from North Park University in 1995. She completed a Master of
Arts in Theological Studies at North Park Theological Seminary in 1998.
In addition to her experience in Internet and graphic design on behalf
of a number of institutions, she served as director of youth ministry at
First Covenant Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, from 1995-1996, was a
teaching assistant at North Park Theological Seminary from 1996-1997,
and was an assistant coordinator in the university's Center for
Management Education from 1998-1999.
"Heidi brings good experience in the area of web design and operations,"
notes Don Meyer, executive minister of Covenant Communications. "She has
worked with most of the offices, departments and affiliated Covenant
institutions since joining our team in 1999, providing her with a good
understanding of their respective Internet needs and objectives. That
experience will prove invaluable. We also are delighted whenever a team
member can advance into areas of increased responsibility within the
department – we are proud of the contributions she has made."
Joining the Communications team is Joshua Havens, who graduated in May
from North Park University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in fine arts,
with an emphasis in areas of advertising and creative design. He
completed studies with the Midwest campus of Covenant Bible College in
2003 and was recently married.
He brings experience in a variety of graphic design areas, including
video and film production, as well as management, having served as an
assistant manager for the Gap clothing company.
"Joshua brings a different perspective to the design team, enhancing the
breadth of design services we can offer," Meyer notes. "He is a talented
young man with excellent customer relation skills that will serve us
well. And, he will bring additional skills in online video streaming
that will further enhance our Covenant website and complement our goal
for expanded use of online video in our news reporting and in expanding
information and resources provided by other departments and ministries."
Both individuals have already assumed their new positions. Pearson will
continue to work again this year with the Communications team in
providing live broadcasts of evening worship services during the 120th
Annual Meeting in Keystone, Colorado, next week. He also continues to
provide support services in Internet technology areas, working closely
with the denomination's Information Services Department.
