Two Positions Available at North Park University


CHICAGO, IL (July 6, 2005) - Applications are being accepted for two positions in the admissions office at North Park University.

Admissions Counselor

This position, which reports to the director of undergraduate admissions, serves as the lead counselor to prospective undergraduate students, providing information to students and families by conducting campus interviews.

Responsibilities include identifying new prospects and providing information to current prospects by visiting high schools; conducting regular, on-going telephone and written correspondence with prospects; participating in open houses and other on-campus recruitment events; involving faculty and alumni in recruiting; and creating and implementing a marketing plan for a specific undergraduate territory.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree; excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills; the ability to work independently; the ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel as assigned; the ability to prioritize and respond effectively to multiple demands; computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and databases; and a personal commitment to and ability to effectively articulate North Park's mission and philosophy of Christian higher education.

Welcome Desk Coordinator

This position, which also reports to the director of undergraduate admissions, provides information to visitors and responds to telephone inquiries while creating a welcoming environment in the Old Main building on the North Park campus.

Responsibilities include being conversant with all North Park University programs; maintaining the main front desk to the university, greeting and welcoming all guests, visitors, and most importantly, prospective students in a professional, timely, and gracious fashion; answering the main toll-free telephone line to the admissions office; demonstrating a high level of customer service in answering questions, providing information, and managing the telephone tree; and hiring and supervising student staff to provide full coverage as determined by policy.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree; excellent interpersonal, oral, and written skills; the ability and willingness to work 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Mondays - Fridays; adaptability and flexibility and the ability to prioritize and respond effectively to multiple demands; the ability to function as a member of a team; and appreciation for, personal commitment to and the ability to effectively articulate North Park's mission and philosophy of Christian higher education.
