Cornerstone: A Myriad of Sights, Sounds

BUSHNELL, IL (July 7, 2005) - A myriad of sights and sounds greeted the 16,000 campers for this year's celebration of the Cornerstone Festival, despite the dust generated by the recent drought that has plagued the Midwest.

Jay Phelan John E. Phelan Jr., president of North Park Theological Seminary, spoke in the "gender revolution" tent, focusing on biblical equality and other issues involving relationships.
The varied activities included a special area for "artrageous kids" – offering hands-on experiences for the more artistically minded younger folk. Artrageous Kids
Bogart Shirt Mike Hertenstein's shirt, bearing the likeness of movie great Humphrey Bogart, reflects the sense of humor and lightheartedness that permeated the atmosphere at the Cornerstone Festival. The shirt reads: "Of all the tents in all the festivals in the world, you had to walk into this one!" The shirt promoted the Imaginarium tent, where the films Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon were screened and discussed, along with other films.
The words from the Broadway musical tribute to young men and their flying machines come to mind when watching young cyclists doing their flips and turns in midair, like this young cyclist performing during the Cornerstone Festival. Upside-down Cyclist
