Two Additions to CHET Staff Announced
BELL GARDENS, CA (July 19, 2005) - Two staff members have been added on an
interim basis to Centro Hispano de Estudios Teologico (CHET), it was
announced today.
Juan Andres Maldonado and Erika Carney Haub have been hired to help
guide the school following the departure of Ed Delgado, the former dean,
who is the new director of evangelism and prayer for the Department of
Church Growth and Evangelism of the Evangelical Covenant Church. CHET
seeks to train Hispanic pastors to serve in Spanish-speaking congregations.
Maldonado is serving as the executive assistant to the president.
Maldonado graduated North Park University with a Bachelor of Science
degree and North Park Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts degree
in theological studies. He is a member of Redeemer Covenant Church in
Downey, California.
For the past four years, Maldonado has been an active volunteer at CHET
as an assistant professor and most recently has served as vice chair for
Bernabé Community Center, a bilingual center for community development.
He also has worked as a senior project manager in the environmental
consulting industry.
"It is truly a privilege to join this team of amazing people and
continue witnessing the hand of God moving in the life of current and
future church leaders," Maldonado says.
He and his wife, Rita, reside in Glendale.
Haub is serving as the director of business affairs and fund
development. She is a graduate of North Park with a Bachelor of Art's
degree and of Fuller Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity
degree. She is a member of Church of the Redeemer in Los Angeles.
Most recently she was the director of Adventures Ahead, an after-school
literacy program in south-central Los Angeles. She was the founding
director of the After Hours program at North Park. She lives in Los
Angeles with her husband, Douglas, and daughter, Mercy.
"I am thrilled to join such a passionate and capable staff team, and to
share in the exciting mission of training present and future leaders in
the Hispanic community," she says.
Whether Maldonado and Haub remain on staff is undetermined. The school's
board of directors is studying whether administrative offices need to be
rearranged, says CHET President Jorge Maldonado.
