Memorial Service September 4 for Fern C. Enns
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 25, 2005) - A memorial service for former Missionary Fern
C. (Anderson) Enns has been scheduled for 3 p.m. September 4 at Grace
Covenant Church in Spring Valley, California. Enns, 82, died on Saturday.
She was a resident of Mt. Miguel Covenant Village where her husband,
Marlan, was the first administrator from 1965-1974. They recently
celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
The couple directed mission work in Ecuador and Mexico City, planting
the first three Evangelical Covenant Churches in both locations. The
couple served 17 years in Ecuador. In 1949, they opened a work in Ibarra
that later became the First Covenant Church in Ecuador. Marlan served as
pastor at Ibarra and also was director of the Theodore W. Anderson
School in Quito. The couple served in Mexico City from 1974 to 1978 and
selected the first target area in nearby Satelite City.
Fern and Marlan moved to Texas in 1980, and worked in the border town of
LaVilla, where they helped an outreach program to establish new
Spanish-speaking congregations.
Fern was born in Kingsburg, California. She attended Reedley Junior
College in Reedley, California, and was a 1944 graduate of San Jose
State College in San Jose, California. She is survived by her husband
and four children: William, Marlene, Janette and Richard.
A memorial service is pending in Mexico City. More information will be
posted to this online Covenant news report as it becomes available.
