Memorial Service Tuesday for Graeme Dutton

PASADENA, CA (August 8, 2005) - A memorial service for Graeme Dutton will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Pasadena Covenant Church. The 23-year-old Dutton was killed last Thursday evening in an accident involving his motorcycle and an automobile.

Dutton is the son of Peter and Ruth Dutton, who serve as economic development specialists for the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) in Laos. A number of ECC representatives will be attending the service, including David Husby, Asia regional coordinator for the Department of World Mission, and Byron Amundsen of the World Mission staff in Chicago. Curt Peterson, executive minister of Covenant World Mission, will officiate.

A reception will follow the service at the church, located at 539 North Lake Avenue in Pasadena. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the Dutton family in care of Steve McCurry, 3365 Florecita Drive, Altadena, CA, 91001.

The oldest child of Peter and Ruth, Graeme lived in Whittier where he worked as a cabinet maker and installer. According to reports received by Covenant News Service, Graeme was operating his motorcycle around 7:30 p.m. last Thursday when he was struck by an automobile and instantly killed. Upon hearing the news, his parents immediately left Laos en route to Thailand to board a flight to the United States, arriving in Los Angeles around 9:45 p.m. Saturday evening.

A special Dutton Benevolence Fund has been established at Covenant offices to assist with expenses related to the family's travel from Laos and other costs. Those desiring to contribute to the special fund may do so by sending checks made payable to the Department of World Mission in care of the Evangelical Covenant Church, 5101 N. Francisco Avenue, Chicago, IL, 60625. Checks should carry a notation designating the gift to the Dutton Fund.
