Enough Blueberries Can Really Pack a PunchWHITEHALL, MI (August 11, 2005) - Fruitland Covenant Church lived up to its name recently when it served a blueberry pancake breakfast to more than 1,200 people at the township Blueberry Festival, reaping $3,000 to help fund a planned building expansion in the process.
The breakfast was part of a full-day event on July 30 that was sponsored by the township and featured food, music and games for children. Brian Kyle, the church's pastor, says the yearly event gives the church great exposure to people in the township. The $3,000 profit from the breakfast will be added to the fund for the church's proposed building addition. The addition will include a new easy-access entrance, a multi-purpose room, a new kitchen, upgraded offices and a new nursery. The church hopes to break ground on the new addition in spring of 2006. Fruitland Covenant was chartered in the denomination in 1949 and currently has an average Sunday worship attendance of 130 people.
