Six Building Projects Receive Approval
CHICAGO, IL (September 1, 2005) - National Covenant Properties recently
approved loans to six churches for building construction and expansion
as well as a land purchase.
Lakehills Covenant Church in El Dorado Hills, California, is building
its first facility since it was formed in 1994. The church reports an
attendance of 230. The church acquired 25 acres of property in 1999 and
is selling six acres to help pay for construction.
Located along a major state highway, "It has one of the most visible
locations of any of the churches that are building," says Steve Dawson,
director of technical services.
Hope Community Covenant Church in Detroit is purchasing a former
Methodist church on the edge of Detroit, Michigan. The multicultural
church of 190 attendees was adopted into the Covenant at the Annual
Meeting in June. Highrock Covenant Church in Sommerville, Massachusetts,
is purchasing a former Greek Orthodox church. Ironically, the Orthodox
congregation had outbid Highrock for another building, former Catholic
church, says Dawson. Highrock was planted in 2001 and has an attendance
of 200.
Journey Covenant Church in Norman, Oklahoma, is a four-year-old plant
that has an attendance of more than 2,000. It initially met in an empty
Wal-Mart building but moved after the discount chained opened a store in
the facility. Journey then converted another 2,500 square foot facility,
says Dawson. The new facility will be 60,000 square feet, Dawson says,
and will seat 1,750.
Good Samaritan Community Covenant Church, Valley Springs, California, is
adding a new sanctuary and office space. The current facility will be
converted into a fellowship hall and adult classroom space. "I don't see
how they've been able to squeeze people into where they've been
meeting," says Dawson. The church was formed in 1988 and has an
attendance of 300.
Community Covenant Church in El Cajon, California, purchased its
building five years ago and is purchasing land to significantly expand
its parking.
