Memorial Service Tonight for Pastor Paul R. Siwek

EAGAN, MN (September 26, 2005) - A memorial service will be conducted this evening for retired Evangelical Covenant Church pastor Paul R. Siwek who died September 23. The service will be held at 7 p.m. at Crosstown Covenant Church, 5540 30th Avenue South, in Minneapolis.

Siwek, 65, retired as pastor of Crosstown Covenant following 14 years of service, having previously served congregations in Los Altos, California; Buffalo, Minnesota; and Duluth, Minnesota, according to the Star Tribune newspaper.

Siwek served as the secretary of the Northwest Conference Ministerium and on the conference's Executive Board and Board of Christian Education. He also served as the secretary of the Conference Mission Committee for the Pacific Southwest Conference and was chairman of the conference's Board of New Church Development.

Siwek earned a Master of Divinity degree from North Park Theological Seminary in 1969 and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne; sons, Curt (Jen), and Greg (Angie); four grandchildren: Luke, Jacob, Caleb, and Tyler; four brothers; one sister; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to the church, to Covenant Pines Bible Camp, or to Minnehaha Academy.
