Alaska Christian College Celebrates Five Years

SOLDOTNA, AK (May 11, 2006) - Alaska Christian College (ACC) celebrated five years of students graduating from the school on April 30, when 28 students completed their studies.

ACC graduating class One of those students – Katherine Rae Fancher – will continue on to the Naval Academy in Annapolis. She is the first graduate to earn acceptance to the prestigious school. The graduating ACC class also recorded the strongest grade point average yet at the school, says President Keith Hamilton.

Hamilton also says that the school has been able to retain its entire staff and pay its bills despite the suspension of federal funds initially designated for the school. The money has been withheld pending a final decision on whether the funding violates the U.S. Constitution. Hamilton credits the generosity of donors with the ability of the school to continue those services.

Funding still is needed to complete the multi-purpose conference and dining hall, Hamilton says. More than 220 people already have volunteered to help this summer with projects at the school.
