Ebner Now Recuperating at Home

FORT COLLINS, CO (September 5, 2006) - David Ebner is recuperating at home after being hospitalized a week earlier when he was shot in the back.

Ebner, 28, is the son of Evangelical Covenant Church pastor Nancy Ebner and husband, Wally. He was shot around 2 a.m. on August 28 as he was walking home from a party. Police could not locate Ebner for 20 minutes because he had sufficient energy to run 100 yards before collapsing, according to news accounts.

Police are continuing their investigation of the incident.

Doctors told David’s parents that he had come within 10 minutes of dying due to extensive blood loss - he had no blood pressure when he arrived at the hospital, according to his father. The human body contains approximately five liters of blood and doctors used 11 liters in transfusions while saving David’s life.

The .45-caliber bullet broke one rib and passed through David’s lung, but did not hit any other organs, Wally Ebner said. David underwent surgery to remove part of his lung.
