Pre-registration Deadline Looms for Triennial

CHICAGO, IL (January 4, 2007) – The New Year began well for five women from the North Pacific Conference (NPC) who had their names pulled from a hat to win free pre-registrations for the Women Ministries Triennial XII later this year.

The announcement came at just the right time: the pre-registration deadline for the conference, to be held August 9 through 12 in Chicago, is January 15. Cost for pre-registration is $250. Regular registration is $285 and the deadline is May 31. Late registrations will be accepted until August 5. Cost is $310.

On New Year's Day, the North Pacific Conference Women Ministries board drew five names from a pool of NPC entrants to win the early registrations, says Lenore Three Stars, the organization’s chairperson.

The winners were:
  • Carol McLaughlin, of Gig Harbor, Washington, who attends Harbor Covenant Church.
  • Anne Clark, of Burlington, Washington, who attends Bethany Covenant Church.
  • Mitzi Norman, of Kent, Washington, who attends Kent Covenant Church.
  • Ellen Gamson, of Mt. Vernon, Washington, who attends Bethany Covenant Church.
  • Melissa Mitsch, of Bend, Oregon, who attends Cascade Covenant Church.
Promotional and registration materials for Triennial XII can be found at the event website, www.triennialxii.org/index_i.htm.

The theme for the event is Catch the Wind: Embrace the Spirit. The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place.

Alise Barrymore and Evelyn Johnson are slated to be the keynote speakers. Barrymore is the former chaplain of North Park University and is now co-pastor of a church plant that seeks to combine post-modern worship and historic African-American worship. Johnson is the superintendent of the Pacific Southwest Conference.

Adrienne Reedy will serve as Triennial worship leader. Saturday night concerts will feature Christy Nockels and Copeland Davis. Nockels has been involved with the Passion Conferences, a nationwide movement of college students and young adults. Davis ties together his classical training with his roots in gospel and jazz. He has performed on the “Tonight Show,” “Good Morning America” and has had his own PBS special.

The event also will be filled with workshops. Sightseeing excursions are planned for the day before the conference begins.

Triennial leaders have launched an initiative to enable at least one woman from each of the 22 countries in which the Covenant has partnerships to attend the event.

“The challenge to give will be presented through regional retreats, individual churches, conferences, districts and individuals,” says Ruth Hill, executive director of Women Ministries. “In this way we will enable a meaningful cross-cultural exchange.”
