Surprise Inspection of Facility Yields Perfect ScoreCHICAGO, IL (February 8, 2007) – A nursing care facility co-owned by Covenant Retirement Communities (CRC) earned a perfect score during a recent surprise inspection by Illinois Licensure & Certification surveyors.The inspection, which was conducted on January 18, found no deficiencies at The Methodist Home on Chicago’s north side, says Paul Spence, vice president of marketing for Covenant Methodist Senior Services (CMSS), the facility’s parent company. Last May, CRC entered into an agreement with United Methodist Homes and Services to form the CMSS. Both entities have a 50-percent share of CMSS. Bill Lowe, president and CEO of CMSS, says the results are indicative of the high quality of care at the facility. “This is an amazing accomplishment since the state is notoriously stringent during its deficiency review.” The surveyors arrived earlier than normal for the annual inspection. The state normally has inspected the home during a three-month window of time in late winter or early spring, Spence says. The inspectors reviewed clinical reporting and documentation, proper nursing care, and environmental factors. Since they always arrive without any prior notification, following correct procedures on a continuous basis is critical to ensuring a favorable survey outcome.
