SCH Ribbon-Cutting Celebration

CHICAGO, IL (March 16, 2007) - It was a time for celebration this morning as various dignitaries cut the ribbon on a new emergency center at Swedish Covenant Hospital, signifying completion of the year-long $10 million project. Following are images from today's event.

 Ribbon-cuttingA number of special guests were on hand for the ribbon-cutting Friday morning, celebrating the completion of the expanded emergency room at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago. They are (from left): Fred Seraphin, RN, emergency department nurse manager; Pauline Sedlarz, RN, director of emergency medicine; Paul Hawkinson, chair of the hospital board of directors; U.S. Rep. Rahm Emanuel; James McCormick, MD, chair of the hospital foundation; Jeannette Yelda, representing the family donors; David Dwight, president of Covenant Ministries of Benevolence; Bruce McNulty, MD, emergency room medical director; and Mark Newton, hospital president and CEO.

Spence Medford, vice president of development and executive director of the Swedish Covenant Hospital Foundation, helps guide members of the Yelda family and others through the expanded emergency department at the hospital, which it was announced today will be known as the Yelda Family Emergency Department.

Members of the Yelda family were obviously pleased with this morning's announcement that the emergency room at Swedish Covenant Hospital will be known as the Yelda Family Emergency Department, honoring the family's significant gift to the $10 million capital campaign.  Yelda family
