Prayer Vigil Tonight for Abducted Kansas Teenager

PRAIRIE VILLAGE, KS (June 6, 2007) – Hillcrest Covenant Church will conduct a prayer vigil at 7 p.m. this evening for the family of Kelsey Smith, the abducted teenager whose body police believe they may have found today.

The family has been attending the congregation for “several months,” says Don Mapes, the church’s executive director.

Smith, 18, had been missing since late Saturday, when she was abducted from the parking lot of a Target store in suburban Kansas City. To read more, please see CNN News Update.

Pastor Mark Severson has been meeting with the family throughout the ordeal, Mapes says.

“Everybody is just numb,” says Priscilla Shopen, executive assistant at the church.
