Rebuilding Continues in Phoenix
PHOENIX, LA (July 31, 2007) - Students from two Chicago churches, North Park and Edgebrook, spent one week in Phoenix assisting in rebuilding that community - an effort familiar to many other Covenant churches that have made similar treks to help in the reconstruction following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina a couple of years ago.  | For many of the students, it was a first-time learning experience, hanging drywall, taping and "mudding" the tape joints, among other activities. Hard work to be sure, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun!
| | Let's see, just a little bit further and I think I can reach it ..." seems to be on the mind of this student. |  |  | This building - a former library - is typical of a multitude of buildings for which there is little hope of salvage and restoration. | The properties have been inspected and evaluations have been completed. It appears this one is headed for the wrecking ball, if the sign on the front porch reflects any official declaration.
|  |  | Students found the accommodations may not have rivaled a five-star hotel, but they provided a time to build friendships, especially among students from North Park and Edgebrook churches. This also was the gathering place for evening worship and times of reflection.
