More Than 1,000 Gather for Triennial XII Opening
CHICAGO, IL (August 9, 2007) – The opening worship service for Triennial XII will be held this evening as more than 1,000 women gather to celebrate the event’s theme, “Catch the Wind, Embrace His Spirit.”
The event at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place is sponsored by Women Ministries of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
Alise Barrymore will speak at tonight’s opening worship service. Evelyn M.R. Johnson also is slated to speak during the weekend. Barrymore is the former chaplain of North Park University and is now co-pastor of a church plant that seeks to combine post-modern worship and historic African-American worship. Johnson is superintendent of the Pacific Southwest Conference.
Adrienne Reedy will serve as worship leader. Saturday night concerts will feature Christy Nockels and Copeland Davis. Nockels has been involved with the Passion Conferences, a nationwide movement of college students and young adults. Davis ties together his classical training with his roots in gospel and jazz. He has performed on the Tonight Show and Good Morning America and has had his own PBS special. To learn more about the scheduled events for the weekend, please see the Triennial XII website.
