Martin Marty to Present Two Lectures on Wednesday

CHICAGO, IL (September 10, 2007) – Martin Marty will present two lectures on Wednesday on the campus of North Park University, sponsored by the Center for Justice Ministries at North Park Theological Seminary.

Marty is an emeritus professor of the history of modern Christianity at the University of Chicago Divinity School. He is well known for his contributions to the Christian Century and Context publications and is the author of many books. He also is an ordained minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

The first lecture will be presented from 12 to 1:30 p.m. in Olsson Lounge in Nyvall Hall. Marty will speak on the topic, “Why Mercy Looks Easy, Why Justice is Hard: Comment on the Prophetic Tradition.”

His 7:30 p.m. lecture on Wednesday will be on “Christians in a World of Too Many Others: Pluralism as Challenge & Opportunity,” to be presented in Anderson chapel.

The public is invited to both lectures.
