Antiques Road Show Visits CRC Community

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (October 22, 2007) – The PBS “Antiques Road Show” pulled into the Covenant Village of Golden Valley earlier this month.

Close to 100 people attended the event on October 11, and about 60 had their items appraised, says Janet Carlyle, the retirement community’s marketing director. Attendees paid $5 per item to have it appraised with a limit of five items, she said.

Appraised items included crystal vases, wooden soldiers and a hand-cranked Victrola record player with records.

James Marrinan, who regularly appears on the PBS program, did all of the appraisals. Although the program will not be televised, the event proved successful in letting city residents know more about Golden Valley, Carlyle said.

Covenant Retirement Communities is one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit retirement community organizations and operates communities in nine states, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon and Washington. It is administered by Covenant Ministries of Benevolence on behalf of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
