Ribbon-Cutting Will Benefit Impoverished Families

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, CA (October 26, 2007) - When Rolling Hills Covenant Church (RHCC) celebrates the grand opening of its new Community Center (accompanying photo), the congregation will also be supporting impoverished families throughout the world.

Community CenterThe church will host the Market of Hope from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on November 3, when area residents can purchase Christmas gifts from a selection of 70 life-giving items. Among the possible gifts are immunizations for children, wheelchairs, medicine and school supplies, and farm animals to help families raise their own food.

Items will be sold in a range of affordable prices. Providing food for 15 children in Colombia will cost the equivalent of popcorn and a movie. All items on the shopping list have been identified through missionaries and mission organizations.

Five hundred kits also will be sold and assembled on-site to provide supplies for people caring for victims of HIV/AIDS. In addition, there will be an opportunity to write letters to troops overseas. Marines from Camp Pendleton will join the event.
The church’s Men’s Ministries will host a free community barbecue from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Music will be provided throughout the day by the award-winning reggae band Christafari.

The weekend festivities will begin November 2 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Community Center. Rolling Hills Estates Mayor Susan Seamens and Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe will participate. The Penninsula High School Jazz Band will perform.
