Memorial Service Pending for Lawrence (Larry) Johnson
CHICAGO, IL (March 25, 2008) – A memorial service is pending for Lawrence (Larry) Johnson, 89, retired Evangelical Covenant Church missionary and pastor, who died this morning.Johnson was born September 17, 1918, in Osage, Kansas. He attended North Park College in 1941, the University of Kansas from 1941 to 1942, and graduated from North Park Theological Seminary in 1945. Johnson married Marguerite (Peg) Blom on December 30, 1944. He served as pastor of Mission Covenant Church in Mears, Michigan, and Salem Covenant Church in Washington Depot, Connecticut. He was a pioneer Covenant missionary to Ecuador from 1947 to 1952. Johnson is survived by his wife; two daughters, Pam Wilkins-Horowitz and Carol Johnson-Booth; and a son, Neil Johnson. A memorial service is yet to be scheduled at North Park Covenant Church. More information will be posted to this online Covenant news report as it becomes available.
