NPTS Student Awarded Beatitudes Society Fellowship
CHICAGO, IL (March 31, 2008) - North Park Theological Seminary student Sara Carlson, of Des Moines, Iowa, has been awarded a summer fellowship by The Beatitudes Society. Carlson, who is a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Des Moines, will serve in San Francisco at the United Religions Initiative, an interfaith organization focused on ending wars motivated by religion. In addition to her work there, she will participate in weekly theological reflection sessions facilitated by a mentor. The Beatitudes Society is a two-year-old organization that seeks to develop Christian leaders at seminaries and divinity schools who will advocate for justice, compassion, and peace.
