Crossroads Celebrates First Permanent Building

SOUTH LYON, MI (April 7, 2008) – The white truck and trailer marked Crossroads Community Church doesn’t have to drive across town every Sunday morning any more. Nor do church members have to set up sound and lighting equipment, chairs and tables, hospitality and ministry supplies at a local school for each service and then spend several hours after worship reversing the process.

On Sunday, the nearly 17-year-old congregation celebrated the grand opening of its first permanent building. “There are some happy people,” said Pastor Joe Muzzi,

One of them was Bob Gielow, a charter member who declared he was “ecstatic!” He was one of a dozen people who first gathered in a basement to discuss starting the church.

The congregation, which adopted into the Evangelical Covenant Church in 2005, actually began meeting at the new building in March, but Sunday was the first opportunity to really celebrate. About 330 people attended the grand opening, Muzzi said.

Adding to the members’ festive mood was knowing that their portable equipment had found a new home: it was donated to Catalyst Church in Syracuse, New York, which held its first service on Sunday.
