Palmberg to Receive Bible Society’s Gutenberg Award
CHICAGO, IL (July 7, 2008) – Evangelical Covenant Church President Glenn Palmberg has been named a recipient of the 2008 Gutenberg Award from the Chicago Bible Society, with the presentation to be made during an awards dinner in October.
 The Chicago Bible Society is an ecumenical outreach ministry founded in 1840 “to distribute the Scriptures and foster their serious reading.” The award was established in 1951 to honor leaders in religious, business and civic endeavors who have advanced the cause of Christianity and the Bible in a noteworthy manner.
General Douglas MacArthur received the first award in recognition of his work in promoting the distribution of the Bible in post-World War II Japan, where he served as military governor. Other recipients include Billy Graham, Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, retired Loyola University President Raymond Baumhart, and Erwin Lutzer, senior pastor of Moody Church in Chicago.
