Church Family Helps Parents of Quads

NORTH BEND, WA (July 16, 2008) – It takes a village—or at least a church—to raise quadruplets.

That has been the experience of Rob and Lacey Potoshnik, who added four children at once to their family last October. Since then, fellow members of Cascade Covenant Church have been helping the couple to care for the infants.

Roughly 45 volunteers ranging in age from 14 to 65 assist the family. Four volunteers appear at the house on most days and work in shifts. The first shift arrives at 9 a.m., and the next group helps between 1 to 5 p.m.

"If there's enough of them, I get to take a nap," Lacey tells the Snoqualmie Valley Record.

Church member CeCe Breneman organizes volunteers and emails their schedule to Lacey each week. "I just knew this would be an experience of a lifetime," Breneman tells the paper.

The Potoshniks already had one child, as well as three from Rob’s previous marriage. They learned six weeks into the pregnancy that the number of children in their family would double.

"We call them bonus babies," Lacey says.
