Four Congregations Join in ‘International Sunday’

ST. CLOUD, MN (July 25, 2008) – The four congregations that use the Hope Covenant Church facility recently worshiped together for the first time during an “International Sunday” service.

Churches worshiping together were Hope Covenant Church, Korean Baptist Church, Lao
Covenant Church, and a South Sudan Covenant ministry.

The attendees learned greetings in each language. Readers from each of the congregations shared the same scripture passage in their own language. Congregations also sang one musical piece in their native tongue. They also sang together songs that were familiar to each congregation.

The service concluded with communion, and the participants joined voices for a simultaneous multilingual hymn. Afterward, attendees were treated to light cuisine representing several cultures and had time to visit.

Leaders from the congregations expressed interest in planning another International Sunday before next summer.
