Inside the Political Conventions—One Pastor’s Stories

DENVER, CO (August 25, 2008) – Dale Kuehne, pastor of Emmanuel Covenant Church in Nashua, New Hampshire, is blogging throughout the Democratic and Republican conventions.

“More than political punditry,” Kuehne describes the blog as telling “the story of the convention, inside and out” as he travels to both the Democratic Convention, which kicks off today in Denver and runs through Thursday, and the Republican Convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul, September 1-4. Entries range from thoughtful considerations of issues and candidates to self-deprecating musings on how to act or what to wear at a convention. “I’m putting myself in the very capable hands of my children, and it seems that the only pieces of clothing I own that will work is a pair of black pants, my ‘Flying Fish’ Bono t-Shirt, and a trendy sport coat that somehow made its way into my closet,” he writes.

Kuehne is the founding director of Saint Anselm College’s New Hampshire Institute of Politics (NHIOP). Kuehne has organized several US presidential debates at the school and was appointed in 2006 to be one of four members of the state Executive Branch Ethics Committee.

Kuehne holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in government from Georgetown University, a master’s in theological studies from Gordon-Conwell Seminary, and a bachelor’s in political science from the University of Minnesota.
