Role of Women in Ministry - Powerpoint Presentation

The accompanying PowerPoint presentation was used by Mimi Haddad during her remarks January 30, 2008, during a morning session of the 2008 Midwinter Pastors Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Chicago. The slides are being presented here in response to numerous requests from many who were in attendance. Efforts are being made to secure Haddad’s presentation notes – they will be added if made available.

Haddad’s presentation was titled: God’s Renewing Work: How Our Evangelical Heritage Empowers Ministry Today. Her message addressed these questions: To what extent did the church allow the presumed inferiority of women to influence their reading of Scripture? Was it the secular feminists from the 1960s or the missionaries of the 1800s who provided the first egalitarian reading of Scripture? How can we be part of God’s reforming work today?

Haddad is a graduate of Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary and holds a Ph.D. in historical theology from the University of Durham, England. She currently serves as president of Christians for Biblical Equality in Minneapolis and as an adjunct professor at North Park Theological Seminary.
