Current Children's Service Project

INDIA: CARING FOR THE CHILDREN

There are many children in India known as rag pickers who spend their days picking through dumps looking for trash that they can sell for a small amount of money.  These children come from poor families who cannot afford to send them to school.  They have little to eat, only the clothes on their backs, suffer from ill health, and have no chance of escaping their current environment without an education.  Once again, children in Covenant Churches across North America can help.

This year's Children's Service Project, "Caring for the Children" will enable children in North America to help the children of India.  The money they give will care for children in India by providing them with food, clothing, and an education. 

The 2007-2008 Children's Service Project booklet contains 24 stories from Mumbai, India.  Before you take your offering each week, please read on of the stories.  In this way, as children give they will be reminded of where their offering is going, and it will give them a bigger view of God's kingdom.  I believe that, as our children hear stories of the faith and the character of the children in India, it will help them grow deeper in their own faith.

Your gifts will be distributed in partnership with Covenant World Relief.  All of the money received will go directly to the Hindustani Covenant Church to provide food, clothing, and school supplies for the rag picker children of India.

We already know that children reflect Christ's love to others and can make a difference through their giving and their prayers.  We hope this year you will join us in helping the children on India.
