Discipleship Confirmation
Discipleship Confirmation
Visit the official Journey website.
Discipleship/Confirmation is a two-year discipleship program to help
7th and 8th graders process their faith. The material covers the Old
Testament, New Testament and church history. The main text is the
Bible. Students have journals that begin with a short story, daily
Bible reading and questions. Leaders are provided with a guide
containing a variety of activities and experiences to help youth
process their faith. A Parent/Mentor guide accompanies the material and
helps adults to share their faith stories with youth. The two-year
curriculum is available through the Covenant Bookstore.
For further information about discipleship resources, contact the Resource Center.
Please also check out the new resource that enables you to adapt this
material for use with adults. More information about that resource can
be found on the Adult Ministry portion of this site.
This discipleship experience is designed to encourage middle school/junior high students to:
- Develop and/or affirm a first hand faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
- Explore and come to an understanding of the biblical story of God and his people and know themselves as part of that story
- Connect beliefs with behavior in a life of discipleship under the Lordship of Jesus Christ
- Develop an understanding of the church and especially of the Evangelical Covenant Church and its mission in the world
- Begin to understand some of the major doctrines of the Christian faith
- Develop meaningful relationships with pastor(s), friends, and members of the congregation
- Facilitate parent-adolescent sharing of the Christian faith in conversation and action (service)
