In the middle of the winter our Children’s Leader Team discovered a wonderful Bible for children: The Jesus Storybook Bible written by Sally Lloyd-Jones, illustrated by Jago, and published by Zonderkidz in 2007. This book takes “the Story” beneath all the stories in the Bible (Jesus) and weaves 21 Old Testament and 23 New Testament accounts from Genesis through Revelation in such a way that every story points to Jesus! The Most Important People You’ve Never Met – Summer Series
We did a summer theme on obscure Bible characters – how God made an imprint on them and how they made an imprint on God’s world. “Service Sunday”: Leaving the Church Building to Bless Our Community in Jesus’ Name
In March 2011 we all came together, young and old, not for a Sunday Service but for a Service Sunday. After a fifteen-minute “Holy Huddle” we left our church building and served our community in Jesus’ name. One hundred eighty-nine participated in fifteen service teams which took on projects like changing oil for financially strapped families, planting a vegetable garden at a local elementary school, painting playground equipment for a kindergarten, and making and delivering enchiladas to people in need.
