Stations of the Cross – Winnetka Covenant Church
The Stations of the Cross experience at Winnetka Covenant Church was two years in the making. The idea was brought to the church’s Clergy and Worship Resource Committee, all of whom gave their enthusiastic support. Tenebrae Service – Jesus’ Last Week
We had done a Tenebrae service for a number of years and were looking for a way to breathe some newness into it, so instead of walking through the sayings of Jesus on the cross and extinguishing a candle after each one, we decided to incorporate some scenes from the last week of the life of Jesus and then in the same manner, extinguish a candle and have the room grow progressively darker. Stations of Creation
The Stations of Creation are a sequence of prayer reflections based upon objects observed in God’s natural world. Intended to enlarge both our gratitude and our stewardship, it is helpful if the rite can be experienced outdoors. It may be celebrated either individually or in a small group, but if the latter, a leader can be appointed to casually direct the journey, having done simple prior planning to map out a suitable route.
