Europe

We were invited to serve in Europe by the International Federation of Free Evangelical Churches (IFFEC) in 1991. Ministry partnerships have expanded since then, and we currently have missionaries in Spain, France, the Czech Republic, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Sweden working in church planting, evangelism, discipleship, outreach, Christian formation, youth ministry and leadership development.

A new ministry to the “least-reached” among the immigrant, Roma/gypsy and refugee populations is beginning, under the name Mosaics Project. Regional Coordinators for Europe are also responsible for mission work in Russia.

Mosaics Project

The Mosaics Project is intended to allow opportunity for the Gospel of Christ to emerge in various communities of Europe and the Mediterranean Basin, to the unreached of Europe. This is a region characterized by a mosaic of ethnic, faith-diverse, agnostic and atheistic peoples. The immigration of individuals from North Africa and Central Asia in particular has increased dramatically in recent years.

These people find themselves on the margins of society. Because they don't "fit" into mainstream society they have limited or no access to the Gospel as it is promoted in traditional ways in Europe.

Recent statistics indicate that in France alone 10% of the population is comprised of immigrants, mostly from North Africa. There are over three million Turks in Germany. In the UK some 500,000 are Bangladeshi. One million immigrants are in the Netherlands and close to one million Ecuadorians are in Spain and Italy. By some estimates, close to nine million Roma (Gypsies) live throughout Europe. The Roma and immigrants from Asia, Africa and Latin America paint a colorful European picture but often face discrimination and racism.
