A

Akagi Bible Camp (ABC)
The camp in Japan owned by the  Covenant Church of Japan.

Abundant Life Center (ALC)
Located in Bangkok, Thailand, this work began in 1994 with a vision to address the needs of rural Issaan (northeastern Thai) people who have migrated to mega-city Bangkok in search of the work and income they hope will bring them a better life.

Christian Academy in Japan (CAJ)
A school for missionary children in Japan.

CAR or RCA
Central  African Republic

Career missionary
Also known as a long-term missionary, is a Covenant missionary that has been called and consecrated by the Evangelical Covenant Church Annual Meeting to serve long term in mission in an international setting.

Centro de Estudios Ministeriales del Pacto Evangelico de Colombia (CEMPEC)
The Covenant theological training institute in Colombia.

Communaute Evangelique en Ubangi/Mongala (CEUM)
Covenant Church of Congo.

Confraternidad de Iglesias del Pacto Evangelico (CIPE)
Confraternity of Hispanic Evangelical Covenant Churches. Includes churches in Latin America and Spanish-speaking churches in the US. Spain holds an associate membership. It exists for fellowship among its members and the encouragement of shared projects.

community development
Opportunities exist for assisting people and communities in underprivileged areas with general development. These ministries give credibility, open doors for witness, and assist local churches.

contextualized ministry
Bringing the gospel to people using forms of worship and terminology appropriate and meaningful in their culture. 

country coordinator
Covenant missionaries who serve as connectors for the missionary staff in their country of service. 

country of service
a country where we have personnel  or commitments, replacing the former term "field."

Covenanters in World Mission
Recognition of Covenant members involved in international mission through other mission organizations.

Covenant Merge Ministries

Covenant Mission Connection (CMC)
a resource available to local Covenant churches to assist in planning for and preparing work teams sent to locations in the U.S. and abroad (usually for 1 - 2 weeks).

Covenant World Relief
The international humanitarian aid arm of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Its mission is to offer relief, rehabilitation, and development to the poor and crisis-stricken. It works in partnership with many groups including Covenant World Mission.

Fraternidad de Iglesias del Pacto Evangelico en Colombia (FIPEC)
This is the name of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Colombia in Spanish.

FOWM
Friends of World Mission.

 

holistic ministry
A ministry that encompass all aspects of a person's life, including spiritual, educational, health, and ability to earn a living.

home assignment
It is the term Covenant World Mission uses to refer to the time missionaries spend at home, which includes visiting churches when they are in the USA and Canada. 

 

Iglesia Evangelica Misionera Mexicana (IEMM)
Covenant Church of the northern district of Mexico.

Iglesia Evangelica Misionera del Pacto (IEMP)
Covenant Church of the central and southern districts of Mexico.

India for Christ Ministries Covenant Church (IFCM)
Covenant World Mission partners with IFCM in India.

International Federation of Free Evangelical Churches (IFFEC)
Covenant World Mission partners with the IFFEC in Europe.

Iglesia del Pacto Evangelico de Ecuador (IPEE)
This is the name of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Ecuador.

itineration coordinator
The person on the Covenant World Mission staff who assists missionaries with planning mission festival participation, church camp, and conference visits during a missionary's home assignment.

Jesus Evangelical Covenant Church (JECC)
Covenant World Mission partners in the Philippines.

Long-term missionary
Also known as a career missionary, is a Covenant missionary that has been called and consecrated by the Evangelical Covenant Church Annual Meeting to serve long term in mission in an international setting.

member care
A group of volunteers who serve the missionaries in areas related to medical, psychological, sociological issues (i.e. helps in team building, health issues,etc.). Help in strategic planning for the future.

Mosaics project
A multicultural, contextualized ministry for reaching marginalized people in Europe.

Nihon Seikei Kirisuto Kyodan (NSKK)
The Covenant Church of Japan.

 

O


Odawara Christian Center (OCC)
The OCC is a facility of the Japan Covenant Church, started in 1976 by former Covenant missionaries Gordon and Lucille Johnson. OCC is a community center which offers conversational English classes, English Bible classes, an international worship service, a temporary shelter for women and children in need, special concerts, a ministry to high school students, and AA meetings. OCC also serves as a meeting place for interdenominational church functions and a city-wide prayer group.

Paul Carlson Partnership (PCP)
Affiliated with the Evangelical Covenant Church, it develops projects and programs to provide services and witness to the love of God as exemplified by the life of Paul Carlson, Covenant missionary martyr.

Project missionary
Term used by Covenant World Mission for a missionary who has committed to a project focused international ministry, usually for 3-6 years of service.

RCA or CAR
Central African Republic

Regional Coordinator
Covenant missionaries who serve as connectors between each of the countries in their area. Seek out new partnerships, maintain relationships with current partnerships.

Short-term missionary
Term used by Covenant World Mission for a missionary who has committed to 1-3 years of service.

transformational development
