After spending ten years developing an agroforestry program, it has become necessary to advance beyond just the need for fruit trees and begin a program that seeks to give research, resources, and training assistance in all aspects of agricultural development to all the people groups of Central Africa, including the Fulani and Pygmy groups. People in this area need to achieve “food security,” and learning about new methods of farming with improved species of plants and animals is one way to help.
Participants at CHIC 2012 will raise scholarships to change the lives of hundreds of children in several countries. These gifts will provide children with an education for an entire year and hope for a new future. The Covenant Mission in Colombia works together with the Covenant Church in Colombia to purchase materials and to provide scholarships for ministry-oriented workshops and conferences that are offered by the Colombia Ministry Training program and other local ministry groups. These workshops and conferences include: theology, missions, children’s ministry, spiritual mentoring and social program administration.
Community health involves charts, nutrition center supplies, and tools for nutrition garden at Gamboula, Central African Republic (CAR). Agricultural seminars are held at the center as well as out in the villages. Another goal of this project is to establish many village cooperatives, that are not only trained in the planting and caring of fruit trees, but, based on Matthew 22:37, encouraged to reach out to their neighbors, especially to Fulani or Pygmy people that need help in raising crops for food. Hindustani Covenant Church (HCC) is providing formal education to 1,600 children through HCC English Medium School in Solapur, grades 1-12. These children are from poor background and are provided with quality education for very low fees. The children are supported irrespective of caste or religion. Through this program, students have completed nursing, management, and technical studies, finding employment in good positions.
